Annual Community Prayer Breakfast
to Feature Radio Personality and Best Selling Author Dr. Laura Schlessinger The 22nd Annual Community Prayer Breakfast is pleased to announce well known radio personality and best-selling author Dr. Laura Schlessinger of The Dr. Laura Schlessinger Program as the speaker for this year’s Prayer Breakfast. Dr. Laura has been the featured speaker for the National Congressional Prayer Breakfast, the Museum of Radio and Television, Claremont Institute, PBS and the National Religious Broadcasters. The 2003 Community Prayer Breakfast will be held at the Kellogg Arena in downtown Battle Creek on Tuesday, May 6 from 7:25 to 9:00 a.m. Breakfast tickets are $10 per person and may be obtained by calling (269) 969-2194 or the Community Box Office (269) 441-2710. In keeping with the morning’s theme – Together Under God’s Guidance and Protection, Dr. Laura has titled her remarks for the May 6th event, "What Does Honoring Thy Father and Mother Really Ask of You?" Dr. Laura has the fastest-growing talk-radio program in the history of the radio medium. She is author of five New York Times Bestsellers, including Ten Stupid Things Couples do to Mess up their Relationships, and a new children’s book to be released April 1st, titled "Where’s God?" She has appeared on several television shows such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, A&E Biography, Larry King Live, 20/20 and The Today Show. She has also been featured in publications such as Time, People, USA Today, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and others. Dr. Laura is Editor-in-Chief of her monthly magazine, Dr. Laura Perspective. She is president of The Dr. Laura Schlessinger Foundation, whose mission is to provide a powerful advocacy on behalf of abused, abandoned and neglected children. These children are often rescued without any of their personal belongings. In 1999, the Dr. Laura Schlessinger Foundation My Stuff™ program was launched to comfort children in crisis. Over the years, Dr. Laura has received many awards including the 2002 Woman of the Year Award from Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute. In 2000, she was the first non-Christian to receive the Chairman’s Award from the National Religious Broadcasters and in 1997 she was the first woman to win the Marconi Award for Network/Syndicated Personality of the Year. Dr. Laura has received many degrees including a Post-Doctoral Certification in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles and a MS, M Phil, Ph.D. in physiology from Columbia University.
