9/11 Survivor and Wife Featured Speakers for
25th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast

Brian Birdwell

Battle Creek, Mich.  – Retired Lt. Col. Brian Birdwell and his wife Mel are this year’s featured speakers for the 25th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast on May 9, 2006.  Birdwell was in the Pentagon at the time of the September 11, 2001 attacks and was badly burned.  The Birdwell’s devotion to God and each other helped them come through the traumatic event with their faith intact. The theme of this year’s Prayer Breakfast is “God’s Abundant Grace.”

new!We have received a special opportunity to have a monumental painting on exhibit at the Community Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday, May 9th. Local artist, Rick Herter, is an artist and aviation enthusiast and chosen from over 100 artists in the U.S. Air Force Art Program to create two very historical paintings that would hang in a prominent location in the Pentagon. These works would recreate for the viewer and record for all of American History, the United States’ first military response to the terrorist strike on the morning of 9/11. Rick and his wife, Connie, will be attending the Breakfast, and his original painting “First Pass, Defenders Over Washington” will be on display during the event. We are thrilled and have linked information about the artist and paintings for viewing.
